Spas / Massotherapy

In its popular designation, a spa is a source of hot water, natural or not, and comes in the form of a bath or a basin. It is used for relaxation, hot water providing benefits for the body.
The first spas were actually natural geothermal sources. In some places, natural spas are still practically not modified, or even not at all, to enjoy the environment.  Our regions being less suitable for this type of geothermy, spas here will be built and adapted from a natural source of water, usually near a river.

The spas in Quebec offer a wide variety of activities for relaxation and bodycare.

The sauna

The Sauna is a small hut or a room with a dry hot bath warming up to 80 ° C to 90 ° C to remove toxins from the body through sweat.

This dry heat (90 degrees) provokes a strong perspiration and the elevation of body temperature stimulates all body functions.

Saunas activate the blood circulation and metabolism, and create immune system stimulation. Among its benefits, therefore, we find relief from certain conditions such as rheumatism, insomnia, stress, allergies.

Massage

Massage therapy involves a range of massage techniques which, despite their differences in philosophy and manipulation, share a number of principles and methods with the aim of promoting relaxation (muscle and nerve), the bloodstream and lymphatic circulation, the assimilation and digestion of food, the elimination of toxins and functioning of vital organs.

Most spas offer different massage techniques, in order to meet the specific needs of your body:

The Swedish massage uses a massage oil and combines firmness and softness. It includes a series of maneuvers implemented in a sequential manner on parts of the body, in a tidy and precise application. It runs primarily on the muscles and acts on the nervous system. There are also effects on the person’s health.

The lymphatic drainage is a very subtle art of touch acting primarily as a cure for stress. His pace is slow. His "wave" movement is very accurate and repetitive. This approach has the effect of stimulating the lymphatic system to release toxins and regenerate the body. His mainly preventive effects are on circulatory problems, water retention, cellulite, constipation and general loss of energy.

The sports massage aims muscle. The movements are running at a fast pace, among other things using the forearms, elbows and fists. It is designed for professional athletes and anyone wishing to acquire a deep and complete relaxation.

The Thai massage is a combination of foot reflexology, acupressure and yoga.   The massage without oil is produced over the clothes and given in four positions: front, side, and seating and from the back. The Thai massage works on the system by lightly stretching tendons and joints. The body is rocked slowly into positions that gently stimulate internal organs.

Shiatsu massage is executed on a mat on the floor.  This massage without any oil is produced with clothes on, which have to be comfortable ones. This type of massage reduces stress, helps overcome insomnia and strengthens self-healing faculties. This energizing method will restore body vitality, regulate hormonal system, blood circulation and lymphatic fluid, eliminate waste and release muscle tension.

The hot stone massage is usually performed with round and soft basalt stones. These volcanic stones are used as a massage instrument.  Stones are laid down on specific body areas to operate the massage. While hot stones fetch energy from the earth, they warm up muscles, which dissolves tension, reduces pain and improves blood circulation. Cold stones are generally used to cool down points of inflammation and tighten pores at the end of the treatment.

Body treatments

Body wrap

Application of a thin vegetable or mineral-based paste, such as hot algae (usually combined with essential oils), sea clay or even chocolate all over the body, which is subsequently wrapped to allow heat create vasodilatation and strong penetration of healthy components in the body.

Body wrap gives a relaxing feeling and helps the mineralization while providing high energy. Eliminates toxins, relieves muscle and joint pains.

The relaxing patient is wrapped in a plastic material and covered with a blanket to encourage the product penetration.

This technique soothes and hydrates the body, stimulates the central nervous system and tones up the muscles. They help relieve arthritis, osteoarthritis and muscle pain. Also helps to treat cellulite.

Exfoliation

Process by which the dead cells are removed to allow better absorption of active ingredients through the skin (salt seas, sea clay, algae or granular creams designed for this purpose).

Facial

Complementary to the body wrap, the facial is a cosmetic treatment that includes a multitude of facial cares, such as steam, exfoliation, cream, mask and massage.
